James (Jamie) Nitze

I grew up in suburban New Jersey and attended college on the East Coast. The day I graduated, I moved west to Los Angeles and ultimately found work producing commercials. The legal side of that business sparked my interest in law school, which I then moved to New Orleans to attend.

After obtaining my J.D. I ventured north to Seattle, to start some exciting work in financial technology as well as explore that region's exquisite natural splendor. Once I'd had enough of the drizzle and gray of the Pacific Northwest, I returned to New Orleans, where I'd been offered an opportunity to run a small construction and home services company.

Those were incredible years. But they were nothing compared to those that would soon follow. In the summer of 2023, shortly after my 35th birthday, a deep spiritual yearning drew me to Mérida. More than anything I had heard about its safety -- the feeling people said you got after less than a day here: that you are truly secure and free from danger. I felt it the minute I stepped outside the airport.

After that, it was easy to fall in love with the welcoming culture of Mérida and the broader charm of the Yucatán Peninsula. It didn't take long for me to decide I'd found my new home. As a Real Estate Agent with YBCP, my special ability lies in having experienced this significant transition firsthand. I relocated my entire life here, secured legal residency and work authorization, purchased a house and car, met my wife, and started a family. I can go on and on.

More importantly, I can provide you with personal insights on nearly any aspect of newcomer life in the Yucatán Peninsula. I take great pride in helping clients find their ideal home here so that they can begin building this rewarding new life, much like the one I built for myself!

As devoted as I am to my work, and as much as I enjoy it, my greatest happiness comes from being a father. My daughter was born here in Mérida, and each day I watch her grow and explore the world, I feel that much more grateful she will remember this special place as her home.
