Located 65 km / 40 miles northeast of Merida and a 45 minutes’ drive, is the beautiful port of Telchac, this is the starting point of the coast to other beaches such as Yucatan, San Crisanto, Chabihau, Santa Clara and Dzilam Bravo, you can also pass by Uaymitum where you can spot pink flamingos that migrate in the summer months.
Telchac is a serene little village where the main square is surrounded by trees, and places to sit and relax. Its small pier and the lighthouse is the perfect place to watch the sunsets … and enjoy the tranquility of the water.
The white sandy beaches, which boast calm turquoise waters, are ideal for sunbathing and swimming. Early in the day you can see fishermen who leave or are returning from the day’s catch.
There are restaurants with a variety of dishes based on fish and seafood, as well as shops where if you want you can buy souvenirs, sweets or fruit. It is recommended that you bring cash. Close to Telchac you can find the Xcambo Mayan Ruins, it is worth a visit.
